The Final Push

Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 9:24AM As you may have noticed from my last post, I have been working hard for the past month on the Breastfeeding USA Indiegogo campaign. Well, today is its final day. The campaign ends at 11:59 pm Pacific time tonight, Thursday, August 16.
Due to the level of support this campaign has received, it is now displayed as one of Indiegogo's most popular campaigns, which is an amazing and wonderful accomplishment. It's also been thrilling to watch the warm, supportive comments and donations pour in from all over the US and beyond.
At this moment, the campaign is only $570 away from meeting its funding goal of $12,000. (Today, our contribution total has been changing by the minute.) These donations will be used to upgrade the Breastfeeding USA website and expand its national network of free mother-to-mother breastfeeding support. What a worthy cause!
I'd like to extend my personal thanks to everyone who has helped and supported this campaign. Some have worked behind the scenes on the campaign's logistics, featured articles about it (see Mothering.com and Best for Babes), added its widget to their website, and spread the word with tweets, Facebook posts, emails. Some have even used old-fashioned, 20th century tools, such as phone calls and snail-mail letters.
To everyone who has spread the word, donated, or shared encouraging thoughts, thank you for your support! It is a thrill for me to be a part of such a positive, mission-driven breastfeeding organization. Breastfeeding USA chose as its theme for this year's World Breastfeeding Week and National Breastfeeding Month: "Planning the Future of Mother-to-Mother Support." Thanks to everyone who's helped, we'll have the resources we need to turn our inspirations into reality, to provide the breastfeeding help and support today's American women need.
P.S. As a postscript, I'm thrilled to report that the Breastfeeding USA Indiegogo campaign ended on Thursday night at $13,740, far surpassings its $12K goal. Thanks to everyone who donated and who helped spread the word!
